Of Faith =)

A VERY INTERESTING CONVERSATION (Pls read til the end :])

An Atheist Professor of Philosophy was speaking to his Class on the problem, Science has with GOD, the ALMIGHTY. He asked one of his New Christian Students to stand and . . .

Professor : You are a Christian, aren't you, son ?

Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, you Believe in GOD ?

Student : Absolutely, sir.

Professor: Is GOD Good ?

Student : Sure.

Professor: Is GOD ALL - POWERFUL ?

Student : Yes.

Professor: My Brother died of Cancer even though he Prayed to GOD to Heal him.

Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill.

But GOD didn't. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?

(Student was silent )

Professor: You can't answer, can you ? Let's start again, Young Fella.

Is GOD Good?

Student : Yes.

Professor: Is Satan good ?

Student : No.

Professor: Where does Satan come from ?

Student : From . . . GOD . . .

Professor: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this World?

Student : Yes.

Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn't it ? And GOD did make everything. Correct?

Student : Yes.

Professor: So who created evil ?

(Student did not answer)

Professor: Is there Sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness?

All these terrible things exist in the World, don't they?

Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, who Created them ?

(Student had no answer)

Professor: Science says you have 5 Senses you use to Identify and Observe the World around you.

Tell me, son . . . Have you ever Seen GOD?

Student : No, sir.

Professor: Tell us if you have ever Heard your GOD?

Student : No , sir.

Professor: Have you ever Felt your GOD, Tasted your GOD, Smelt your GOD?

Have you ever had any Sensory Perception of GOD for that matter?

Student : No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.

Professor: Yet you still Believe in HIM?

Student : Yes.

Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol,

Science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?

Student : Nothing. I only have my Faith.

Professor: Yes,Faith. And that is the Problem Science has.

Student : Professor, is there such a thing as Heat?

Professor: Yes.

Student : And is there such a thing as Cold?

Professor: Yes.

Student : No, sir. There isn't.

(The Lecture Theatre became very quiet with this turn of events )

Student : Sir, you can have Lots of Heat, even More Heat, Superheat, Mega Heat, White Heat,

a Little Heat or No Heat.

But we don't have anything called Cold.

We can hit 458 Degrees below Zero which is No Heat, but we can't go any further after that.

There is no such thing as Cold.

Cold is only a Word we use to describe the Absence of Heat.

We cannot Measure Cold.

Heat is Energy.

Cold is Not the Opposite of Heat, sir, just the Absence of it.

(There was Pin-Drop Silence in the Lecture Theatre )

Student : What about Darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as Darkness?

Professor: Yes. What is Night if there isn't Darkness?

Student : You're wrong again, sir.

Darkness is the Absence of Something

You can have Low Light, Normal Light, Bright Light, Flashing Light . . .

But if you have No Light constantly, you have nothing and its called Darkness, isn't it?

In reality, Darkness isn't.

If it is, were you would be able to make Darkness Darker, wouldn't you?

Professor: So what is the point you are making, Young Man ?

Student : Sir, my point is your Philosophical Premise is flawed.

Professor: Flawed ? Can you explain how?

Student : Sir, you are working on the Premise of Duality.

You argue there is Life and then there is Death, a Good GOD and a Bad GOD.

You are viewing the Concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure.

Sir, Science can't even explain a Thought.

It uses Electricity and Magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one.

To view Death as the Opposite of Life is to be ignorant of the fact that

Death cannot exist as a Substantive Thing.

Death is Not the Opposite of Life: just the Absence of it.

Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your Students that they evolved from a Monkey?

Professor: If you are referring to the Natural Evolutionary Process, yes, of course, I do.

Student : Have you ever observed Evolution with your own eyes, sir?

(The Professor shook his head with a Smile, beginning to realize where the Argument was going )

Student : Since no one has ever observed the Process of Evolution at work and

Cannot even prove that this Process is an On-Going Endeavor,

Are you not teaching your Opinion, sir?

Are you not a Scientist but a Preacher?

(The Class was in Uproar )

Student : Is there anyone in the Class who has ever seen the Professor's Brain?

(The Class broke out into Laughter )

Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's Brain, Felt it, touched or Smelt it? . . .

No one appears to have done so.

So, according to the Established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol,

Science says that You have No Brain, sir.

With all due respect, sir, how do we then Trust your Lectures, sir?

(The Room was Silent. The Professor stared at the Student, his face unfathomable)

Professor: I guess you'll have to take them on Faith, son.

Student : That is it sir . . . Exactly !

The Link between Man & GOD is FAITH.

That is all that Keeps Things Alive and Moving.

*************************************************

Nice thought, eh? Hope you've enjoyed it just like I did! ;)

Feel free to share this profound thought to all your friends!

Forward this to them to increase their knowledge and FAITH.

By the way, that student was Albert Einstein. :)

Love vs. Sex

Love vs Sex

A teenage girl about 17 had gone to visit some friends one evening and time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year. She ended up staying longer than planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn’t afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away. As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked God to keep her safe from harm and danger. When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he was waiting for her. She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for God’s protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped round her, she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived home safely. The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had been raped in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been there. Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep. Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station. She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him. She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley the night before. When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed. The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was anything they could do for her. She asked if they would ask the man one question. Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the policeman asked him, he answered, “Because she wasn’t alone. She had two tall men walking on either side of her.” Amazingly, whether you believe or not, you’re never alone. Did you know that 98% of teenagers will not stand up for God?

Repost this as Love vs. Sex if you truly believe in God.

PS: God is always there in your heart and loves you no matter what and if you stand up for Him, He will stand up for you. I bet 93% of the people that read this wont repost it. I read this and reposted it. Well I bet you read this note because of the title, didn’t you.

06: Executive Board Meeting =)

***Late Post***

Hi everyone! :)

I had such a great weekend! :) I just got home from Cagayan de Oro City to attend the 3rd Executive Board Meeting of the JPIA (Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants) Officers. It was such a nice experience to gain new friends, do team-building activities and discuss the plans about the upcoming RFJPIA Midyear Convention and Annual Regional Convention. With all the cool activities that we've discussed, makes me can't wait for the upcoming conventions. Yayyy! =)

The meeting actually came as a shocker to me. Our JPIA President, Van Anthony G. Dagapioso (a.k.a. Vhanne, Vanny, Toni, Tiya, Madame, hahaha! etc.) called me 2 or 3 days before that weekend to inform me about the meeting, I was like, "Sure, no problemo Vanny!" (not knowing that it was going to be held in CdeO) but when he told me all about the details, I was like, "Oh! Gosh, I've got to ask my mom first." Hahahaha! I was really hesitant at first because that week was scheduled for my dad's 9-day novena and after which is his 40-days celebration. Moreover, I didn't want to bother mom with more expenses since we were gonna be spending a lot on dad's 40th day--an additional 900Php for the registration+fare+pocket money would really squeeze this month's budget. Yes, I'm that considerate. LOL. Hehehe! ;) But Vanny really begged me to come and I felt kinda guilty about being eager to run for office and yet I can't even do the first task that faces me, you know, something like that. So I talked mom into letting me go to the said convention, and surprisingly, it wasn't even that hard. She just wanted to make sure that I'd be home on dad's 40th day to help them out with the preparation and all. Wheeww! ;)

I left for CdeO early Saturday morning and arrived at around 10 a.m. We checked-in at  Hotel Conchita and luckily we were just in time for the meeting. They served us baked spaghetti for a.m. snacks and wow was it delicious! :) Just when we were about finish our snacks, they started the meeting with the ever-famous "Introduce Yourself". It was fun actually, the "old" RFJPIA officers, as others would call them, really rocked the floor with their witty punchlines and newly invented love teams. After our little activity, we then proceeded with the oath taking of the newly elected RFJPIA Officers and  then followed a lunch of teriyaki chicken, pinakbet, beef something and buko pandan. Wowww! My compliments to the chef, Hotel Conchita, the food was superb!! :) When we were sated and all, we headed straight for our rooms to have a lil' rest and prepare for our escapade to Jasaan, Misamis Oriental.

Hotel Conchita

Oh, hi there! ;)
It was a long drive to Kahulugan Spring Resort . It's a place similar to our very own Timoga Swimming Pools, although smaller. We did some fun team-building activities and games such as message relay, fill-the-1-liter-bottle-with-body-water, and a number  something race. The games were really fun, and it also helped us get close to one another. After the games, the guys went singing at the karaoke, while others were munching some snacks and the rest were doing some modeling and endless picture-taking. :)

The picture speaks for itself! :)
That's our cottage! Right at the back of the water slide! :)

We went back to the hotel at around 7 o'clock to freshen up for the distribution of certificates later that evening. After our delicious dinner of cream chicken, chopsuey, fish fillet and mango tapioca, we proceeded with the distribution of the certificates together with lotsa posing and picture taking. Haha! :P Despite the energy-draining afternoon we had, we still had the pizazz to explore CdeO's current attraction--the Night Cafe. Located at the heart of the city, the Night Cafe offers a lavish display of food, restobars, trinkets, gift items, etc. Also, with its upbeat aura--cool music, colorful globe lights and happy faces; the Night Cafe sure is a great place to hangout with family and friends to unwind and partaaayyy! :) Not only that, it also has this Night Market which displays ukay-ukay of all sorts! From bags to clothes to shoes, you name it! One of my friends was able to buy a whole outfit for only 150 pesos. Quite a saving, huh? So whenever you feel like thrift-shopping, I suggest you head for the Night Market, there sure are a lot of good-buys there! ;)

Night Cafe! (Photo by: lexxx1)

Night Cafe! Look at the people! O.O (Photo by: HaikoMagtrayo)

When we were done exploring the entire cafe, went back to the hotel at around 11 p.m. and boy, were we tired! We immediately dozed off the moment we arrived. Oh wait, correction, we still ate our tuna sandwich (afternoon snacks) before we hit the hay sack. Rule of thumb, never ever let food go to waste, especially when it's yummy! Haha! LOL.  ;) Although against our will, we woke up really early the following morning, at around 6 a.m. to get ready for the planning session scheduled at 7. When we were all set, we went down for a breakfast of tapa and eggs and waited for the session to start. Filipino time as they 'd say, the meeting didn't start until it was already past 9! Tsk. (Wish I didn't wake up  so early! Argh!) Nonetheless, we killed the time by talking about this young actor, AJ Perez, who died in a car accident early that day. We all agreed that it was such a loss to lose someone so handsome and young. Tsk. Tsk. :( May God have mercy his soul. Anyway, when the officers were all set, we immediately discussed the tentative plans regarding the upcoming conventions. There were friendly exchanges of comments and suggestions, and even Vanny and I actively participated. Char! We also discussed about the Zoning of the Local Chapters, the next EB Meeting location (tentative: Camiguin! Yayyyy! White sand. LOL!), new community-based activities for the SAAG (Search for the Ambassador and Ambassadress  of Goodwill) etc. I may say that the meeting went well for we were able to resolve the shortcomings and issues of the past conventions. It's such a good start! Hopefully, in the next meeting we would be able to finalize the tentative plans for the conventions. :)  We'd see to it that this year would be one helluva convention for our fellow JPIAns. :) Bittersweet as it was, when the meeting ended at around past 11, we then bid our goodbyes, shared hugs and exchanged numbers and facebook accounts in the hope to keep touch with our new found friends. :)

Alas, after some last minute packing, we checked out of the hotel at 12 n.n. sharp and off we were, home bound, bearing with us all the fun-filled memories and great friendship  we've established with our co-JPIA Officers. It surely was an experience to remember. =)

Before I end this post, here's a collage of some of the great moments we've shared during the EB Meeting. Photo credits to Ms. Jewel Ivy Balabag Dumapias, CMU Outgoing JPIA President. :)

Fun! Fun! Fun! :))))

05: Oh, Dear...

Awwwe. I just finished reading a book that made me just so emotional and all. *Sniff. Sniff* Strangely, I never was a fan of heart-breaking stories, but I guess, this one here's an exception. Hihihi. Anyway, the book's title is Dear John. I dunno if you guys have heard of it, but it's written by one of the bestselling authors, Nicholas Sparks. In fact, it was even made into a movie last year. Yes, I've watched the film, but frankly, it's not even half as good as the book. ;P I dunno, the movie just didn't quite get into me, if you know what I mean. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed reading the book because it helped open a lot of things to me--things I never thought I'd understand.

Well, the story's about an angry, rebellious, teenager (John Tyree) who enlisted himself in the army after high school, not knowing what else to do. Then, during a furlough, he meets Savannah Lynn Curtis, the girl of his dreams. In a weeks time, both fell for each other and quickly grows into a kind of love that leaves Savannah vowing to wait for John while he finishes his tour of duty. Both try to bridge the distance by sending letters to each other, thus the title "Dear John". Everything goes well at first, in fact, the time and distance apart even made the relationship stronger and grow much deeper. Just when there were only days left until John's discharge, with both so certain that nothing could stop them from being together, then came September 11th. Consequently, like so many proud men and women, John must choose between love and country; and so he chose the latter. When he finally returned to North Carolina, John then discovered how love can transform us--in ways we never could have imagined.

I suggest you read it guys, it's really something. Not the typical mushy love story and all, but something more profound and mature. :)  Not to mention, it also talked about things like: friendship, autism, a child's relationship to a father, death, to name a few. Call it a coincidence or a fate, I can't help but think that the book was really meant for me--this time, right now. Everything that the book tackled are the same things that are going on in my life right now--I have a brother who is an autistic, I have a boyfriend who's leaving in two days' time (he'll be gone for like 3 months or so), and I have still been coping with my father's death. *Sigh.* So coincidental, huh? Nonetheless, I really am happy that I got to read the book, it helped cleared my mind and made me realize things I wouldn't have thought about. Well, I won't be delving much into details this time guys, I guess I'm ready yet. I just wanted to share the book, that's all. :) Hope you'll read it! 'Til here! ;)

"Love meant that you care for another person's happiness more than your own, no matter how painful the choices you face might be..." ~John Tyree, Dear John

04: Hats Off to Me! ;D

I really got this thing for head gear, I find them really cute and attractive. :) Whenever I see someone wearing 'em, I can't help but take a second look at the person. I, too, would also love to go around and wear all those cool headgear; however, I just don't have the guts to do so. :P Hahahaha! As I've said, they're too eye-catching.. People might think of me as too attention-seeking or some sort.. Hahahahaha! ;D Paranoid much? But hey, you never know, people could get really mean sometimes. o_0

Nonetheless, I had one hat-ty day I really, really enjoyed! (Shallow much? ;D Hahahahaha!) One Saturday aftternoon, boyfie and I went to Bianca's Closet (a tailoring shop that makes all sorts of costumes--fantasy, traditional, anime, Disney characters, you name it!) to rent an eye-catching coat for their Senior's Night partaaayyyy. (As I've told you before, my boyfriend is vain as hell! Hahahaha! ;D) I dunno what got into me, but I was such in a cheeky behavior and tried on the hats they have on display. (Boyfie told me that it was my subconscious desire to wear hats that was getting over me. Okayyy. Whatever Mr. Smartypants. Hahahaha! Joke! :P I think he's right, ayt? ;D Hehehehe..) Boyfie said they looked nice on me, so I got all flattered and decided to take some pictures.. Hahahahaha! ;D Here are some of the photos from my fun hat-ty experience.. :)

I'm like some Arabian dancer or something. Too bad I don't dance. xD Hahahaha!

A sultan's hat. Just like the one Jasmine's dad was wearing in Aladdin. =)

I feel like a queen! xD LOL.

Feeling chic in a fedora hat. Hahahaha! ;) (Okayyy, the bag's such an eyesore!)

Hahahahaha! Look, there's a chicken on my head!! ;P LOL!

Alright, you can stop laughing now. :P :P :P Sorry for my vanity, but I really can't help myself from trying on all those cute headpieces!! xD I still wanted to take more pictures though, but the customers came flocking in the store. It's kinda hard to pose in front of a crowd yah know! xD

Heyyy, enough about me, how about you? What thing catches you the most?

Well, 'til here guys! ;D Hope you had fun reading! XOXO.

Lord, thank You very much! :)

03: HOPEFUL STILL STILL...

Hahahahaha! Forgive me for the 'whatever' title, but I really do think it suits this post well.. ;D

Geeeezzz, I had one hell of a morning earlier this day. I woke up at around 12 when boyfie arrived after taking his review lessons, we then had a lil' chitchat about his review and had lunch (brunch for me) together afterwards. Call it a blessing in disguise, boyfie ran out of load and asked me if he could borrow my cellphone because he needed to text someone asap. I said sure and handed him my phone, he was so surprised with what he saw, text message received--Ma'am Gallardo. I was greatly bewildered when he told me about it. My heart then began race, I was thinking, What could ma'am possibly want from me? or Could my encounter with my other prof yesterday be somehow related to this? Hesitantly, I read the message and I couldn't believe my very eyes: Good a.m. Niña! Are you free ten a.m. today? I recommended you and Guiller to be team members for next year's ACPACI team. We'd like you to watch the presentation of Hanimai and company. WOOOOW! I was shocked to the nth level, this is like, a big opportunity and a great honor for me. It's quite a shocker because I'm not that brilliant a student, in fact, my grades aren't even that good! However, I noticed that ma'am had always commended me of how profound and well organized my answers (to decision-making questions/essay questions) were during our Finance 1 class. I'd always get inspired whenever she makes those love notes at the back of my paper or when she tells me that if only I'd exert more effort, I would surely reach places. Awwwe. It's really nice of her to boost me up like that; it's what every student needs in a world full of academic pressure, ayt? :)  Going back to my story, dumbfounded as I was, I still managed to get into my senses and instinctively checked the time: 11:45 am. Crap! What am I gonna dooooooo??? I was an hour and 45 minutes late already, not to mention that I was still wrapped up in my nighties! Hahahaha! So I started to get all panicky and rushed to the bathroom without even finishing my brunch. Amazingly, I was able to get ready in like 20 minutes or less; I guess the epinephrine got me all going. Hahaha! And off to school I went, hoping I could still make it to the presentation. Unluckily, I ran into Hanimai and she told me that the presentation was already over. Boohoo! I really felt bad that I wasn't able to watch their case presentation, I would've learned a lot from it for sure.  Tsk. :((( Adding insult to injury, boyfie was taunting me that ma'am Gallardo had already forfeited my slot/recommendation and gave it to someone else. He kept on teasing until I got all worried and paranoid, so nice of him, huh? (Are all class valedictorians such big bullies? Hmf!) Anyhow, good thing I was still able to talk to ma'am and she told me that I could just go watch the future practices and all. (Hah! in your face dada! Bleeeehhhh! :PPPP) Wheeewwww! What a relief that was! xD Ain't God just sooo awesome? :)))

After school, I helped boyfie pick out an outfit for their upcoming senior's night. (He's very particular when it comes to outfits, he'd always brag to me that he's got an eye for fashion. Gaaaahhh. Whatever! Hahahaha!) It almost took us the whole afternoon to find the perfect outfit. Sheeeessshhh! Talk about vanity mehn! We then spent the rest of the afternoon at the mall to go grab something to eat. I was soooooooo famished! I forgot that I wasn't able to finish even half of my brunch since I was in such a hurry that noon. *Tummy growls* Being that today is Friday (It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday, hahahahahah! LOL!)--no meat day (Lenten season practice), we decided to eat at Big Dipper Restaurant because they serve seafood dishes. We were both amazed that we paid so little for our meal and yet we were soooo full that we could hardly stand up. Well, two thumbs up (each, so that makes four, right? Hahahahaha!) for the resto's effective marketing strategy--that is, they've decided to broaden their serving sizes! They offer 1 whole serving, 1/2 serving, 1/3 serving and even 1/4 serving! Cool huh? This is very economical for the customers since they'd have control on their orders--they could go for more variety without the dread of wastage, plus it's such a cost-saver, too! ;) And may I add that the food is delicious as well! The Seafood Chopsuey surely is a must-try. ;) Heyyy! Wait a sec, I think Big Dipper Restaurant should pay me this! Hahahahaha! Kidding. xD

After our busy afternoon, we were so ready to go home and catch some zzzzzz's given that we were so tired and full. (Swine syndrome mehn! Hahaha!) However, on our way home, I remembered something important: my special exam results. Damn! I totally forgot about it. When I went to school in the morning, I asked our Cost prof if she was already done checking my paper. Unfortunately, she told me she still hasn't checked it, so I told her I'd just come back in the afternoon. And I forgot. Oohhhh, bummer! Instead of going straight home, we did a little side trip to school (good thing I live near our school) in the hope that ma'am would still be around. Sadly she went home already, but good thing is, she left my corrected paper on her table. Wait, I take that back, it's not a good thing: I failed my special exam. :(((( It had an 80% passing rate and I was just a point short of passing. How sad! :((( However, the results really did bother me because I was quite confident in that exam. I know I'd only mess up the entries, but all else, I was sure as hell! So I reviewed my paper only to find out that ma'am had an error in counting the total number of items and another error in answering one of the problems. Jeeezzzz! Why does this always happen to me?? Mixed emotions then came into me. I was happy because I knew that I really did pass that exam, however, I was too late to have it corrected. :(( I'm really worried that if I dillydally with this matter, ma'am would then submit the grades and I'd never have the chance to get my paper corrected. And to make things worst, I had my grade (prior to the special exam) calculated by Vhanne and I was, AGAIN, .3% short of having a higher grade. (The range issue again! Huhuhu! :((( ) S/he told me that the odds all rely on my special exam. I was like, Oh no! Not this situation again!! Not again!!! *Sigh*

I can help but think of how ridiculous everything is right now. It's as if, life's playing some silly tricks on me over and over and over again. Crap. Good news. Even more crap. Better news. Hell of crap. Whatever. The funny thing is, in spite of everything, I'm somehow amazed that my school life is one heckuva ride all throughout. I mean, it like, never keeps me at ease or something and mind you, I kinda like it that way! I find it exciting and all! Weird huh? But I dunno, I just really do! Hahahaha, you're prolly thinking that I'm one crazy b*tch or something; but hey, think all you want, there's nothing I can do about that! I guess, all I can say is that I'm just making the most out of everything God has brought upon me: I smile at all the blessings, cry at my misfortunes, worry about consequences and most importantly, hope and believe whenever I have to take a leap in the dark. You just have got to make do with what you have  and enjoy every bit of it, ayt? :) That's how I choose to deal with life; to go and face it head on with God as my strength and Hope as my shield to guide me all throughout the way. ;)

(Super late post. Sorry if it's kinda messed up guys. I gotta go now, no time for editing! Hihihi! ;) )
